Lighthouse Country Fair
The Area
Lighthouse Country is a group of four communities (Bowser, Deep Bay, Qualicum Bay, Horne Lake) on the east shore of Vancouver Island. It earned its name by being situated between adjacent islands, Sister Island and Denman Island, both with their distinct light houses acting as visual markers.
The Fair
Labour day weekend marked the annual Lighthouse Country Fair held in Bowser, B.C. Fun was had by young and old alike. There were dog agility demonstrations, local entertainers, face painting for the kids, and lots of exhibits.
People were encouraged to enter a variety of different categories to be judged such as painting, gardening, floral arrangements, scarecrow competition, baking and crafts. As in most rural fairs, prizes were awarded in a large variety of categories. The Bow Horne Bay Community Club awarded the ribbons.
